Before You Start

January 2025: Only D (Trial) licences are available at the moment

Before proceeding with completing the form below, please check that you have the following forms downloaded, printed and you can either scan of take a photo of the completed forms.



As part of your application, the following will be required:

  1. Anti-Doping Seminar attendance (this is completed online, and you will need to upload the digital certificate you recieve)
  2. Flag Seminar document - you will need to declare that you have read and understood the Flag Seminar document
  3. Club membership verification - we need to verify that you are a member of an affiliated club. As part of the application form, you will need to upload a copy of your current Club Membership Certificate OR your current club membership number. This must be valid for the current year.
  4. A medical form that must be signed and stamped by your doctor, which you can upload as a scan/photo. If you have a 2023 medical cert, a scan/photo if that will be accepted for the coming year. If you are unable to locate your 2023 medical cert, please email office@motorcyclingireland.ie letting us know (you will still be able to complete the form).

Info about medical declarations and stamped certificates

A LICENCE APPLICATIONS: "A" licence holders will need a stamped medical certificate annually.

B LICENCE APPLICATIONS: "B" licence holders will need a stamped medical certificate every three years.

C LICENCE APPLICATIONS: "C" licence holders will need a stamped medical certificate every three years.

ALL LICENCE HOLDERS need to submit their medical declaration (top half of the medical form linked on this page) with every licence application.

  • For the anti-doping seminar, complete this online and you will recieve a digital certificate which you will need to upload. The online anti-doping seminar is available here
  • You will need to read and confirm you understand the Flag Seminar document - the document is here.

  • If this is a renewal or upgrade, a scan or photo of your current/old licence will be needed
  • If you are under 18, a signed Parental or Guardian declaration form will be required. You can download this here

      Newcomer Application

      Please note that as this is your first licence, you will need to participate in an assessment supervised by Motor Cycling Ireland.

      You will be emailed details about how and where to take part in this assessment once your form is successfully approved.

      To be eligible for a full race licence, you must first be assessed by a Club Of Motorcycling Ireland (MCI). Contact your club for nearest Assessment day.

      A Participants Pass is required to attend an Assessment/Practice Day.

      A refundable Participants Pass may be purchased under Online Forms on this site.

      REMEMBER: You can only continue with your application for a C or D licence if you have already completed your rider assessment, and you have your Club-stamped and signed Riders Assessment Form ready to upload before clicking next.

          For the anti-doping seminar, complete this online and you will recieve a digital certificate which you will need to upload below.

          The online anti-doping seminar is available to take online here

          So it can be displayed on your licence, please include the date you completed the online anti-doping seminar below. This should match the date shown on the digital certificate you recieved.

              Medical Certificate

              In this section you will need to send us a scan/photo of your medical certificate. If you don't already have this to hand, you can download it below. There are two sections to be completed:

              1. The Medical Certificate section (top half of document) must be completed by ALL applicants.

              2. The bottom half of the document (the Mandatory Medical Examination) must be signed and stamped by your doctor. If you have a stamped medical examination from 2023 but can't find it, see the 2023 declaration below for more info.

                Do you have a 2023 Medical Cert stamped by your doctor but can't find it?

                Important: the below info and tickbox is only relevant if you had a 2023 medical cert already but you are unable to locate it in order to upload it. If you already have your stamped 2023 medical cert to hand, please upload it above and skip the section below.

                PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU STILL NEED TO UPLOAD THE FIRST HALF OF THE DOCUMENT ABOVE - you still need to print, sign and upload the top half of the document linked above.

                If you are unable to locate your 2023 medical cert which was stamped by your doctor but you had submitted last year to MCI, please email office@motorcycle letting us know and upload the document above with just the first half completed. Please note that this will delay your application.
